Research on the Huanglongbing/ Asian citrus psyllid (HLB/ACP) pathosystem using live infected plants and insects in California must be conducted in a Biosafety Level III-Plant quarantine such as the UC-Davis Contained Research Facility (CRF). Cultures of multiple isolates of the pathogen thought to cause HLB and colonies of ACP are maintained for use by multiple researchers investigating this pathosystem. This proposal seeks to maintain the cultures and colonies that were established with funding from the Citrus Research Board for use in improving management of HLB and/or ACP, and to test possible therapies for HLB.
